Jahmyr Gibbs fined $23,027 by NFL for helmet use

The NFL has fined Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs $23,027 for unnecessary roughness. The penalty stems from a Week 1 touchdown run against the New Orleans Saints, where the league determined Gibbs used his helmet impermissibly.

Although the play was not flagged by officials during the game, the league’s disciplinary review process identified the violation at the 11:18 mark of the third quarter. Gibbs’ touchdown run helped secure a 31–30 overtime victory for Detroit in their season opener. The fine represents the largest disciplinary penalty issued following Week 1 action.
