Jahmyr Gibbs named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week following a Week 5 performance against the Arizona Cardinals. Gibbs recorded 151 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and five receptions for 56 yards.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell highlighted Gibbs’ unselfishness, specifically praising a critical pass protection block on a fourth-and-1 play that allowed quarterback Jared Goff to complete a touchdown pass to Sam LaPorta. Campbell noted that while Gibbs' offensive production is rare and impressive, his willingness to perform difficult blocking duties distinguishes him as a special player.

Gibbs, who recently secured a contract extension, currently leads the NFL with 747 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns.
