Jaime Francisco Cortés, legendary baseball broadcaster, dies

Legendary Mexican baseball broadcaster Jaime Francisco Cortés has passed away. Born in Mexico City in 1960, Cortés became a definitive voice in Mexican winter baseball, most notably serving as the radio announcer for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo for nearly 40 seasons.

His career spanned several decades, including work with the NOTIMEX agency and stints with the Tomateros de Culiacán and Potros de Tijuana. As the voice of the Naranjeros from the 1986-87 season through 2025-2026, he accompanied the team through nine LMP championships and the 2014 Caribbean Series.

A tribute was held at the Fernando Valenzuela Stadium, attended by family, colleagues, and fans. The ceremony included a service at his longtime radio booth and an honor guard on the field to commemorate his lasting impact on the sport and the Hermosillo community.
