Jaipur celebrates traditional Teej festival with royal procession

The traditional Teej procession was held with royal splendor in the Walled City of Jaipur on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Attended by thousands of locals and tourists, the event featured a procession of Goddess Parvati.

Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari performed puja during the festivities near Tripolia Gate. Additionally, Padmanabh Singh, a member of Jaipur’s erstwhile royal family, performed the traditional ‘aarti’ of Teej Mata at Tripolia Gate.

The procession, which originated in 1727 under Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, included decorated horses, camels, bullock carts, and chariots. Various folk artists participated, showcasing traditional dances, swordsmanship, puppetry, and music, including Manganiyar singers and Ravanhattha players.
