Jaipur government school demolished for new construction

Demolition has begun on a dilapidated government primary school in Rampura Kanwarpura village, Jaipur, to make way for a new facility. The Rajasthan government has allocated ₹18 lakh for the construction of the new building.

The site, located in the Bagru Assembly constituency, was declared unsafe in September 2025. Since then, 18 students had been attending classes in temporary arrangements consisting of two rooms and a tin shed, where buffaloes were also tethered nearby.

The school gained significant attention following an incident on August 21, during which workers from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) were allegedly attacked while conducting inspections under the party’s ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign. CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka reported that the group faced stone-throwing, assaults on women, and property damage. The incident led to legal disputes, with villagers filing cases against CJP workers and the party filing counter-cases for assault. CJP leaders have characterized the commencement of the new construction as a victory for their campaign to improve government school conditions.
