Jaipur: Live mortar shell found near CRPF campus

A live mortar shell was discovered in a field near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) campus in the Amer area of Jaipur on Monday morning. The object was spotted by a woman walking near a field in Ward 148, Khativala ki Dhani, amidst debris.

Upon receiving the report, local police, Civil Defense, and bomb disposal squads arrived at the scene. For safety, the surrounding area was evacuated. The bomb disposal team transported the mortar shell to a remote location, where they placed it in a deep pit and detonated it. The controlled explosion resulted in a loud blast that echoed through the vicinity, but no injuries or property damage were reported.

Authorities are currently investigating how the shell arrived in the field and whether it is an old or recent item. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to gather more information, and central agencies are involved in the ongoing probe.
