Jairam Mahato granted anticipatory bail in Jharkhand police dispute case

An MP-MLA special court in Dhanbad has granted anticipatory bail to Jairam Mahato, the MLA of Dumri and leader of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM). The ruling comes in relation to a case involving alleged misconduct at the Barwadda police station on August 21.

The incident began when police detained JLKM leader Ganesh Das following allegations regarding the use of forged documents, including fake letterheads and seals, to obtain caste and residential certificates. Mahato and his supporters reportedly arrived at the police station to inquire about the detention, leading to allegations of creating a ruckus, obstructing government officials, and attempting to forcibly release the detainee.

While a viral audio clip allegedly captured Mahato using abusive language toward Station In-charge Ravi Kumar, the authenticity of the recording has not been independently verified. Mahato has denied all allegations, describing the legal action as a political conspiracy and claiming that he and others were subjected to mistreatment by individuals at the station.
