Southeast Asia faces monsoon fatalities, drug seizures, and environmental warnings

Southeast Asia is facing multiple environmental and security challenges. In the Philippines, intensified monsoon rains and tropical cyclones have killed eight people and left one missing, affecting approximately 486,000 people across various regions. In Indonesia, several regional issues have been reported. The Indonesian Navy recently intercepted the MV King Sun, seizing 1.3 tons of ketamine in the Riau Islands to bolster maritime security. In Jakarta, air quality has reached unhealthy levels, with PM 2.5 concentrations significantly exceeding WHO guidelines. Additionally, Bali's BMKG has issued warnings for tidal flooding along six coasts due to the lunar perigee phenomenon, while a magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck near Enggano, Bengkulu, though it posed no tsunami threat.
