Jakarta approves Rp1.5 trillion in KJP education aid

The Jakarta Provincial Government has announced the recipients for the second phase, first wave, of the Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP) education assistance for September 2026. A total of 661,209 students will receive aid, with a total budget of approximately Rp1.5 trillion. This group includes 491,566 continuing recipients and 169,643 new recipients whose data has been verified.

Governor Pramono Anung stated that the administration is conducting a re-verification of 26,247 students listed in the lowest economic deciles (1 to 5) to ensure the aid is targeted correctly. This audit follows findings of discrepancies, including recipients who reportedly own cars, have homes with property tax values exceeding Rp1 billion, or have family members serving as civil servants (ASN).

Following guidance from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the government aims to prevent redundant or misdirected aid. Additionally, officials are working to reach approximately 40,166 children identified in national socio-economic data who have not yet registered for the program.
