Jakarta authorities launch initiatives to strengthen cooperatives and revitalize markets

The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM), is implementing initiatives to strengthen village settlement cooperatives and revitalize local markets.

To bolster village settlement cooperatives, the PPKUKM Department is focusing on institutional capacity building, emphasizing administrative order, clear financial recording, and regular annual member meetings. The program also facilitates strategic partnerships with Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD). Perumda Dharma Jaya is offering cooperation for supplying Halal-certified animal protein, while PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya is providing opportunities for staple food supplies, such as rice, to stabilize consumer prices.

In South Jakarta, authorities are also working to revitalize the Pondok Labu Market. Efforts include improving infrastructure, specifically parking areas and access points, to increase visitor comfort and activity. The South Jakarta PPKUKM sub-department is also promoting empowerment programs for traders, including digital marketing training and Halal certification, while collecting data on vacant stalls to assist MSMEs in finding business locations.
