KAI bans Liga Aspal on rail right‑of‑way; Jakarta moves games to RPTRA Borobudur
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) denied residents of Menteng, Central Jakarta permission to use land adjacent to railway tracks for the street‑soccer tournament Liga Aspal, citing safety and operational concerns. KAI explained that the area is part of the railway Right of Way (ROW) and is reserved for train maintenance, inspection and travel safety. "Keselamatan merupakan prioritas utama KAI," said KAI spokesperson Franoto Wibowo.
Governor Pramono Anung of DKI Jakarta said the provincial government respects KAI’s decision, but will ensure children still have a place to play. The administration will upgrade the Integrated Child‑Friendly Service Area (RPTRA) Borobudur and the nearby Borobudur football field as alternative venues for Liga Aspal. "Saya sangat menghormati apa yang menjadi kebijakan KAI," he added. Jakarta currently has 47 football fields, including 14 stadiums, and the governor ordered improvements to make them more accessible for community sports.
