Jakarta begins land surveys for Thamrin-Kwitang MRT corridor

The Jakarta Provincial Government has begun the initial process of surveying locations and buildings potentially affected by the construction of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Phase 1, Segment 1, Thamrin-Kwitang corridor. The data collection, conducted by the Land Acquisition Preparation Team, focuses on areas along Jalan Kramat Kwitang and Jalan Kebon Sirih in Central Jakarta.

Ebron Leonard Sirait, representing the Jakarta Provincial Government's Bureau of Government and People's Welfare, stated that officials socialized the project plans with affected parties before conducting the surveys. This 1.76-kilometer segment is part of a phased development plan.

Separately, PT MRT Jakarta is currently tendering several construction packages for the East-West Line. This line will connect Medan Satria, Bekasi, to Tomang, West Jakarta, including underground sections from the Bank Indonesia area through Thamrin-Kebon Sirih to Kwitang-Senen. The East-West Line is targeted to begin operations in 2031 and is projected to serve approximately 284,000 passengers daily.
