Jakarta expands animal health services and aquaculture support
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Department of Food Security, Marine and Agriculture (KPKP), plans to construct five additional Animal Health Centers (Puskeswan) by 2026. These facilities will be located in Pluit, Pulo Gebang, Klender, Semanan, and the KPKP office building. This expansion aims to increase public access to animal health and welfare services, supplementing the existing centers in Ragunan and Pondok Ranggon.
In a separate initiative, the Kepulauan Seribu Food Security, Marine and Agriculture Department has distributed 4,100 catfish and tilapia seeds across five islands: Pulau Kelapa, Pulau Untung Jawa, Pulau Tidung, Pulau Pari, and Pulau Pramuka. The distribution is intended to encourage freshwater fish farming in residential ponds for household consumption and to serve as an educational tool for local students regarding aquaculture practices.
