Jakarta Governor considers Transjabodetabek route from Blok M to Bandung
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is considering expanding Transjabodetabek public transportation services to include a route connecting Blok M to Bandung. This proposal follows the growing popularity of the Blok M area, which has become a major hub for youth, culinary businesses, music, and creative activities due to its integration with the MRT Jakarta and Transjakarta networks.
Pramono noted that the Blok M area has become so prominent that it is jokingly referred to by the public as the ‘Republic of Blok M’. He highlighted that improved connectivity has driven significant economic growth, noting that the creative economy sector contributes over Rp410 trillion, or approximately 11 percent, to Jakarta's Regional Gross Domestic Product (PDRB).
Data shows a 10.8 percent increase in public transportation users in Jakarta through September 2026. For instance, the Transjabodetabek Blok M-Bogor route, originally intended for 2,000 passengers, is now averaging nearly 10,000 users. While the Bandung connection is being considered as a way to further enhance regional connectivity, no official schedule or operational scheme has been confirmed.
