Jakarta Satpol PP officer assaulted during Bulungan enforcement
A Satpol PP officer sustained head injuries requiring six stitches after being struck with a helmet during an enforcement operation in the Bulungan area of South Jakarta. The incident occurred while joint teams from the Transportation Agency (Dishub) and Satpol PP were conducting operations against illegal parking and street vendors near the Bulungan Swimming Pool.
Governor Pramono Anung clarified that the clash was not triggered by the removal of food vendors, but rather by provocations from construction workers in the vicinity during a crackdown on illegal parking. While the Governor initially urged legal action to combat thuggery, he later stated that the matter would be resolved through dialogue and mediation rather than formal legal proceedings.
Police have interviewed five witnesses, including the reporter, Satpol PP members, and workers, as part of an investigation into potential criminal violations. The assault reportedly took place near Kyai Maja after officers were ambushed and stones were thrown at their convoy.
