Jakarta Governor dismisses teacher over student harassment allegations

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced that a teacher at SMK Negeri 27 Jakarta, accused of violence and sexual harassment against students, has been dismissed and will be barred from teaching in Jakarta. The Governor emphasized that the individual should face the strictest possible legal sanctions, stating that such actions damage public trust in educators.

The allegations surfaced following social media posts on Threads, where a former student claimed the teacher used excessive physical punishment, including pinching that left marks, during their time in junior high school.

The Jakarta Education Agency has initiated an investigation through the local sub-district and provincial education departments. The teacher has been relieved of their duties to ensure the investigation proceeds without interference. Authorities are currently gathering evidence to determine further administrative and legal consequences.
