Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung announces Tanah Abang redevelopment plans

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced a phased redevelopment plan for the Tanah Abang commercial district to improve order and infrastructure while protecting local livelihoods. The initiative aims to address illegal parking, street crime, waste management, and illegal drug sales across various blocks in the area.

To support the community, the provincial government will coordinate with the Transportation Agency, Satpol PP, Perumda Pasar Jaya, and Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya. Pramono emphasized that the approach will avoid purely repressive measures, focusing instead on providing sustainable solutions for traders and residents.

Additionally, the Governor is planning the construction of integrated multi-story public schools in Tanah Abang. Using the sites of SD Negeri Petamburan 05, SD Negeri Petamburan 07, and a local junior high school, the project aims to create a five to six-story facility. The budget for this construction is slated for 2027, with a target completion date between 2028 and 2029. The plan also includes utilizing ground-level areas for sports facilities.
