Jakarta Governor rejects PMI donation circulars for civil servants
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has addressed controversy surrounding a circular regarding Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) donations for civil servants (ASN) within the Jakarta Provincial Government. Reports surfaced of a document specifying mandatory donation amounts based on job titles for the September-November 2026 period. Under these guidelines, mayors were reportedly asked for Rp 2.5 million per month, while lower-level employees and contract workers faced smaller monthly fees.
Pramono stated that he would contact the PMI to clarify the matter, emphasizing that such collections are not permitted in Jakarta. He noted that the provincial government already provides sufficient facilities to the PMI, including a recently inaugurated building, and therefore there is no need for any form of collection, whether voluntary or mandatory.
Beky Mardani, Chairman of the Jakarta PMI, denied issuing any documents that set specific donation amounts, stating that the organization does not issue bills or fixed collection sheets for the PMI Fund.
