Yogyakarta City Council promotes culture-based tourism via event calendar

The Yogyakarta City Council is pushing for the strengthening of culture-based tourism by developing a more targeted event calendar. This strategy aims to fill low-season periods and maintain the city's appeal amidst increasing competition from other regions that are developing new destinations.

Chairman of the Yogyakarta City Council, FX Wisnu Sabdono Putro, noted that the city's tourism assets differ from other areas that rely on natural resources. Yogyakarta's strengths lie in its urban atmosphere, cultural and artistic richness, culinary offerings, and local hospitality. To maintain a positive visitor experience, the council emphasized the need for all stakeholders to ensure tourist comfort and address issues such as price gouging by service and parking providers.
