Jakarta International Container Terminal Advances Green Port Transformation
The Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) is moving toward a green‑port model by evaluating electric‑powered handling equipment. KSOP Utama Tanjung Priok chief Heru Susanto and JICT Operations Director Doni Budiono visited SANY Port Machinery’s industrial park in Zhuhai, China, to conduct technical due‑diligence, factory‑acceptance testing and manufacturing readiness assessments for five electric rubber‑tyred gantry cranes and ten electric terminal trucks. The equipment is intended to lower emissions and improve efficiency at the JICT terminal.
Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation is also accelerating a national green‑and‑smart‑port programme. Minister Dudy Purwagandhi highlighted the role of sustainable, digitalised ports in strengthening food‑logistics and reducing carbon footprints at a Green and Smart Port forum in Gresik, East Java. Coordinating Minister for Food Security Zulkifli Hasan underscored ports as critical nodes for national food distribution. The ministry presented Green and Smart Port 2026 awards to eight port operators and terminals for their environmental management commitments.
