Jakarta officials agree on Rp79.59 trillion revised 2026 budget

The Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) and the Regional Government Budget Team (TAPD) have agreed on the 2026 Revised Regional Budget (APBD) draft, totaling Rp79.59 trillion. This represents a decrease from the original 2026 budget of Rp81.3 trillion.

To address fiscal limitations and achieve a balanced budget, officials implemented efficiency measures across several commissions. Reductions were noted in Commission A (approx. Rp5.06 billion), Commission B (approx. Rp259.05 billion), Commission C (approx. Rp8.2 billion), and Commission E (approx. Rp490.11 billion). Additionally, meeting food and beverage expenses will be reduced by 25 percent, amounting to roughly Rp16.74 billion. Despite these cuts, officials emphasized that essential services such as education, health, and social assistance remain priorities.

In a related development, Commission B agreed to an budget increase of Rp60.60 billion for nine regional government work units, bringing their total budget to Rp11.493 trillion. Commission B members stressed that increased funding must be accompanied by measurable program targets and optimal absorption. There was also a specific call for stricter oversight of Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD), urging the BUMD Development Agency to ensure business plans and new subsidiaries are fiscally viable and do not create undue burdens on regional subsidies or capital injections.
