Jakarta police bust drug ring, seize 94 etomidate cartridges and 102 ecstasy pills hidden in Indian basmati rice

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Narcotics Directorate disrupted a drug trafficking network on 20 June 2026, arresting two men identified only as T, 26, and Y, 29, in a rented room in Paseban, Central Jakarta. A raid uncovered a box containing five packets of Indian basmati rice and a modified curry‑spice pack that concealed 94 cartridges of the anesthetic Etomidate, marked with a “Batman” logo, and 102 ecstasy tablets. Four mobile phones and cash of about Rp700,000 were also seized.

Further investigation led officers to an apartment in the Tanah Abang district, where two additional ecstasy tablets linked to the same shipment were found. Police indicated the narcotics had been smuggled from Medan and traced part of the operation to a network based in Malaysia.
