Jakarta police seize 1.5 tons of drug precursors tied to Semarang lab

The Metro Jakarta Barat narcotics unit arrested two men, identified as MH and VW, in the Metland Ujung Menteng area of Cakung, East Jakarta. The arrests followed the dismantling of a clandestine laboratory in the Mijen district of Semarang, Central Java, that was producing illicit karisoprodol tablets.

During the operation police seized more than 1.5 tonnes of chemicals believed to be part of the drug‑production chain: 30 drums of karisoprodol (total 750 kg), five drums of lidocaine (125 kg) and 26 drums of sildenafil citrate (650 kg). Investigators say the substances were likely sourced from an Asian country and are probing the broader supply network and possible international links. The suspects face charges under Indonesia’s criminal and narcotics statutes.
