Jakarta police seize documents in 13th raid targeting corruption case

Police investigators from the Indonesian National Police and the Metro Jaya Regional Police seized a large amount of documents and a computer from an empty three‑storey shop lot on Jalan Asem II in Cipete Selatan, South Jakarta. The raid, the 13th location examined in a joint investigation by the Corruption Eradication Commission’s task force (Kortas Tipidkor) and Metro Jaya police, is part of a probe into alleged corruption and money‑laundering involving state‑owned firms PT PLN, PT Asabri and PT Krakatau Steel.

According to Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, head of public relations for Metro Jaya Police, “Sekarang banyak dokumen yang diamankan teman‑teman penyidik, termasuk ada komputer…”. The operation required breaking the lock on the shop’s door to access all three floors, and local residents were invited to observe the procedure to ensure transparency. Authorities indicated that additional raid locations may be added as the investigation proceeds.
