Jakarta poverty rate falls below 4 percent

The Jakarta Provincial Government has achieved a historic milestone in poverty reduction. According to official data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for DKI Jakarta, the poverty rate in the capital fell to 3.96 percent in March 2026, representing approximately 432,620 people.

This marks a decrease from the 4.03 percent recorded in September 2025. Governor Pramono Anung attributed this progress to integrated strategic programs designed to strengthen social safety nets. Key initiatives include educational support through the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and the Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU), as well as improved access to healthcare and low-cost housing via public apartment programs (rusun).
