Jakarta Governor announces education and urban development initiatives
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced several major initiatives focused on education, infrastructure, and urban development. To support students, the provincial government is working to ensure that changes in economic deciles do not disrupt access to the Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP) and Kartu Jakarta Mahasiswa Unggul (KJMU) programs. Additionally, the administration is preparing the LPDP Jakarta scholarship for 75 prospective students in 2027.
Infrastructure improvements include the revitalization of 19 school buildings, with recent modern vertical renovations completed at SDN Pekayon 05 and SMPN 91 Jakarta. The governor also highlighted the provision of 37 specialized school buses for students with disabilities and the expansion of accessible public transport facilities.
Urban development plans involve transforming Jakarta's districts into themed zones: Pasar Baru is slated to become a 24-hour Korean-style food district by 2027, Glodok will be developed with a Chinese character, and Kota Tua will aim for a European atmosphere. Furthermore, the construction of the 2-hectare Kebagusan reservoir in South Jakarta is underway, aimed at flood control and providing public recreational space.
