Jakarta upgrades drainage, launches bus dining service and tightens traffic controls
The Jakarta‑East water authority is revitalising a 72‑metre drain on Jalan Subur in Ciracas, installing larger U‑ditches and concrete covers. Work began 9 July 2026, is about 25 % complete and is slated for completion in early September, following a similar 403‑metre project in Malaka Jaya.
Transjakarta will begin operating a Bus Open Dining service in early August 2026. The 30‑seat bus will travel city routes offering a full‑course meal, live music and historical commentary for a fare of 500,000 IDR per passenger.
The DKI Jakarta Transport Department has extended traffic‑engineering measures along the Bekasi‑Cilincing corridor, re‑closing several U‑turns in Cakung, Babek and Jakarta Garden City to alleviate congestion. After a severe jam on 22 July, the department also summoned 19 container‑depot operators in Jakarta‑East and North to coordinate traffic flow, redirecting trucks to the Tanah Merdeka terminal and urging depots to raise their capacity limits.
