Jakarta regional updates: waste management, flood prevention, and local incidents

Various regional developments and incidents occurred across Jakarta and the Thousand Islands. In Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, approximately 21,000 households have implemented waste sorting at the source, supported by organic processing facilities such as jumbo biopores and modern teba systems.

To mitigate flood risks, the South Jakarta administration conducted simultaneous community service activities across 65 sub-districts, focusing on clearing sedimentation in Kali Mampang and local drainage systems. Meanwhile, the Thousand Islands Regency hosted the ‘Wall of Jakarta’ event at Pulau Tidung to boost tourism through murals, creative workshops, and environmental actions.

In North Jakarta, a fire in the Pademangan area affected approximately 20 semi-permanent houses, impacting 110 families and 380 residents. Additionally, a restaurant fire in South Jakarta required the deployment of 17 fire engines and 75 personnel to control the blaze.
