Jakarta retail and logistics markets show growth through 2029

The Jakarta retail market is projected to see annual demand growth of 2% to 3% through 2029, according to Colliers. To sustain this growth, shopping malls are advised to diversify their tenant mix beyond food and beverage to include lifestyle, wellness, and entertainment services to encourage consistent footfall.

In the logistics sector, modern warehouse occupancy in Greater Jakarta reached 97% in the third quarter of 2026. CBRE Indonesia reports that while total modern logistics stock stands at 3.6 million square meters, high occupancy levels are limiting available space for new tenants.

New supply is expected to enter the market, including 45,000 square meters in Karawang, with an estimated 1 million square meters of modern warehouse supply projected for Greater Jakarta through 2029. Average monthly rental prices for modern warehouses in the region were recorded at Rp81,800 per square meter in Q3 2026.
