Jakarta signs cooperation agreement with New York University
The Jakarta Provincial Government has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with New York University (NYU) to expand cooperation in education, sports diplomacy, and the sports industry. The agreement was signed by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung in New York on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
The collaboration aims to build a robust sports ecosystem through sports training, expert exchange, and the hosting of international sporting events. This initiative is part of Jakarta's strategy to become one of the Top 50 Global Cities by 2030, leveraging its experience hosting major events such as the Asian Games and the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Additionally, the partnership aligns with Jakarta's plans to launch a scholarship program in 2027. The government intends for NYU to be a primary destination for scholarship recipients, providing Jakarta's youth with access to high-quality international education and global networks.
