Jakarta Sneakers Day Festival Drives Growth in Indonesia's Creative Economy

The Jakarta Sneakers Day (JSD) Blok M Festival, held from 31 July to 2 August 2026 in South Jakarta's Blok M district, showcased over 260 stalls, with roughly 75 % operated by local Indonesian fashion brands. Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya highlighted the event’s role in linking fashion, music, art, beauty, wellness and food, noting that “when various creative subsectors synergise, the impact is far greater, creating shared audiences, promotional efficiencies and export opportunities.”

Government data cited by the minister show the creative sector contributed about 7.38 % of Indonesia’s GDP in 2025, amounting to roughly Rp 1.758 trillion, and employed around 27.4 million workers (about 18.7 % of the workforce). The festival’s multi‑experience format is presented as a model for public‑space collaboration that can expand market access for young entrepreneurs and strengthen the domestic fashion industry.

The event also featured visits to local brands such as Cardinal, Clover, Eiger, HSF Eyewear, ISSHU, Kanky, Mars on Earth, Morteils, Nirmana, Othman, Parfumerie RATS, Weidenman Urban, White Noise and 910 NineTen, underscoring the government’s push to promote home‑grown labels.
