South Jakarta school implements distance learning after 995 weapons found
Authorities have discovered 995 weapons, including firearms and airsoft guns, along with suspected narcotics and pornographic materials in a room belonging to a former foundation head at the Harapan Ibu Pondok Pinang private school in South Jakarta.
Police identified the owner of a Franchi SPAS-15 shotgun found at the site as DS, a director at PT Lokta Karya Perbakin, who reportedly died in 2020. PT Lokta Karya Perbakin has acknowledged ownership of the 995 airsoft guns, which are described as legal and licensed.
The foundation has implemented a week of full distance learning to ensure student safety and psychological well-being while police conduct investigations. Legal representatives for the foundation denied that the discovery was linked to internal conflicts intended to remove the former chairperson, IWD. Instead, they characterized the situation as a legal matter requiring police action. The foundation is also seeking protection and guidance from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
