Jakarta students detained during protests sent to state defense training
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, through its Education Office, has sent 27 students to participate in the 2026 Indonesian Cadet Corps (KKRI) state defense training program. The participants are students who were detained by the Polda Metro Jaya during demonstrations held on August 27.
The training is a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Defense and Polda Metro Jaya, aimed at providing educational character building for youth facing legal issues. The program is currently being held at the TNI Standby Force in Citeureup, Bogor, and is scheduled to run from September 4 to September 14, 2026.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed support for the program, stating it serves as a positive step to foster nationalism and a sense of patriotism among the younger generation. The Education Office confirmed that all participating students, ranging from elementary to vocational high school levels, received prior consent from their parents.
