Jakarta Timur frame factory fire follows reported explosion

A large fire broke out at a frame factory in Pondok Kelapa, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, during the early hours of Wednesday. Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion before the flames spread extensively through the low-rise building.

Firefighting efforts involved 25 vehicles, including 20 units from DKI Jakarta and five units from Bekasi. Approximately 125 personnel participated in the operation to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring structures. The fire was localized by 03:30 WIB, followed by a cooling process to ensure no remaining hotspots could reignite the area.

A security guard on site reported that the fire appeared to originate from the rear of the factory near a cemetery following the sound of an explosion. All workers were evacuated safely after the guard instructed them to leave the premises as the fire intensified.
