Jakarta Transportation Agency apologizes for proposed parking tariff hikes

The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub DKI) has issued an apology regarding controversial proposals to increase parking tariffs. Budi Awaluddin, Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, stated that the reported figure of Rp60,000 per hour for four-wheeled vehicles was merely a proposal and not a final decision.

The controversy arose after members of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) claimed the proposal originated from the Transportation Agency during discussions on regional tax and retribution revisions. Legislators noted that the discussions were conducted without sufficient consultation with the Parking Special Committee or Commission B. The proposed revisions also included potential motorcycle parking rates ranging from Rp3,000 to Rp15,000 per hour.
