Indonesia readies 100,000‑person prayer gathering at Monas with 1,263 security personnel
Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs expects about 100,000 people to attend a national prayer gathering at the National Monument (Monas) on 1 August 2026, marking the start of the country’s 81st Independence Day celebrations. The event, titled Zikir and Doa Kebangsaan, will run from 17:00 to 21:30 WIB and will feature Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf leading the Selawat Kebangsaan alongside other inter‑faith leaders.
Security for the gathering will be provided by 1,263 combined personnel from Polda Metro Jaya, the Indonesian National Armed Forces and local authorities, who will manage crowd control, traffic and safety at the venue. The Ministry has coordinated with the State Secretariat, the National Police, the Armed Forces and the Jakarta provincial government to ensure orderly access and emergency services.
In parallel, regional authorities such as the Semarang city government are urging residents to celebrate the Independence Month through community clean‑up, decoration and gotong‑royong activities, while the city of Mojokerto held a health walk with 400 senior participants to mark the 64th anniversary of the PWRI organization.
