Jakarta's Sekolah Islam Harapan Ibu School Found with 995 Weapons

Sekolah Islam Harapan Ibu (SIHI) is a private Islamic school in Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta, offering education from kindergarten through high school. The school holds an A accreditation, modern facilities including laboratories, a library and a padel court, and runs a bilingual Cambridge‑Assessment program.

On 7 August 2026, police discovered 995 firearms in a locked underground room at the campus that resembled a bunker. The weapons were handed over to investigators from Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan and some were stored at the Polda Metro Jaya evidence room. Despite the find, SIHI kept classes running as normal; a few security guards monitored entry, and students continued to arrive with their parents.
