Jake Auchincloss faces criticism over Massachusetts gun ban advertisement

Massachusetts Representative Jake Auchincloss is facing backlash from Second Amendment activists following a video advertisement supporting a state gun-control law. The law, which targets “ghost guns” and “assault weapons,” is subject to a referendum on the Massachusetts ballot.

In the video, Auchincloss claims that parts for “ghost guns” can be purchased online while demonstrating the assembly of an AR-15 rifle. Texas congressional nominee Brandon Herrera criticized the advertisement, alleging that the actions shown in the video constitute a federal crime.

A Community Note added to the post on X stated that under 18 USC 922, it is federally illegal to have a firearm, including a stripped lower, shipped directly to a residence, noting that such actions have been considered a federal felony for nearly 60 years.
