Jake Gyllenhaal's Southpaw film details released

The 2015 boxing drama Southpaw, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as world‑champion boxer Billy Hope, was directed by Antoine Fuqua with a screenplay by Kurt Sutter. The story follows Hope as he copes with the death of his wife, loses custody of his daughter, and fights to rebuild his career and family life.

Principal photography took place in the United States, mainly in Pennsylvania (including Pittsburgh) and New York, with additional exterior shots in Las Vegas. The film’s cast also includes Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker, Oona Laurence, 50 Cent, Naomie Harris, Miguel Gomez and Rita Ora. Southpaw was first released in 2015 after filming in 2014.
