Jake Hager undergoes emergency surgery after severe eye injury in Power Slap

Jake Hager, the former WWE wrestler known as Jack Swagger, sustained a severe eye injury during a Power Slap competition on September 17. During his match against Johnny Magna, Hager was struck in the left eye, resulting in significant bleeding and a TKO loss.

Dana White, president of both UFC and Power Slap, described the incident as one of the worst injuries he has witnessed in his career. White confirmed that Hager underwent emergency surgery the night of the event and is being referred to a specialist in Miami for further evaluation. Due to the graphic nature of the injury, White ordered that replays of the strike not be broadcast, and Power Slap removed clips of the fight from its social media platforms.

While the exact nature of the injury remains unconfirmed, medical speculation suggests it may involve a ruptured tear duct or an open globe injury. Hager’s partner, Patricia Blackburn, has confirmed he is currently in recovery.
