Jake Hager undergoes emergency surgery for detached retina

Former WWE and AEW wrestler Jake Hager has undergone urgent surgery to reattach a detached retina. The complication was discovered during a follow-up medical appointment after enough blood had cleared from his injured eye to allow for a thorough examination.

The injury originated during a Power Slap competition in September, where Hager suffered significant trauma following a strike from Johnny Magna. The initial injury involved a globe rupture and bleeding from the eye and ear, leading to immediate emergency medical treatment.

While there were earlier reports that Hager had begun regaining some vision, the discovery of the detached retina necessitated this second surgical procedure. According to updates from his fiancée, Patricia Blackburn, the surgery reportedly went better than doctors had initially anticipated, though his recovery remains an ongoing and unpredictable process.
