Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. to star in Hulu pilot

Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. are set to star in and executive produce an untitled Hulu pilot inspired by the 1996 dark comedy ‘The Cable Guy’. The project explores the darkly absurd side of modern male friendship through the story of a lonely cable technician and a childhood friend.

The announcement follows a reunion of the ‘New Girl’ cast at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in Los Angeles. Johnson noted that the collaboration began after discussing potential projects with Wayans Jr. following the cancellation of Wayans' CBS series. To avoid creating a direct remake, the duo has enlisted ‘New Girl’ executive producer Rob Rosell to help reshape the script.
