Jake LaRavia to miss Lakers game due to ankle sprain

Los Angeles Lakers forward Jake LaRavia will miss Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a right ankle sprain. The injury occurred during the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ season opener against the Golden State Warriors when LaRavia stepped on a defender’s foot.

Head coach JJ Redick noted that while LaRavia expressed a desire to play, he was unable to participate following treatment. The injury ends LaRavia’s streak of playing every game, having appeared in all 82 contests last season. Redick indicated that LaRavia is hopeful to return as early as Sunday or next Tuesday.

In addition to LaRavia, Cameron Carr is also listed on the injury report for the matchup against the Clippers. To address the loss in forward depth, the Lakers may rely on Ziaire Williams, who started the season opener, alongside Quentin Grimes and Matisse Thybulle.
