Jake Leschyshyn signs with Finnish club HIFK
Canadian forward Jake Leschyshyn, 27, has signed a one‑year contract with HIFK of the Finnish Liiga, joining the team as a two‑way centre. Leschyshyn was a second‑round pick (62nd overall) of the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL draft and has spent his professional career between the NHL and AHL, playing for the Golden Knights and New York Rangers organizations. In the AHL he has appeared for the Henderson Silver Knights, Hartford Wolf Pack, Chicago Wolves and most recently the Rochester Americans, where he recorded 13 goals and 9 assists in 66 regular‑season games. His AHL totals stand at 364 games and 135 points. HIFK sports director Janne Laukkanen said the signing strengthens the centre line, providing a versatile player capable of contributing in both offensive and defensive situations. Leschyshyn expressed excitement about moving to Helsinki, noting his aim to bring a positive attitude and help HIFK compete for the championship.
