Jake Matthews suffers groin injury during Falcons game
Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Jake Matthews suffered a groin injury during a Monday Night Football game against the New Orleans Saints. Matthews, who was approaching a significant career milestone, left the game in the first quarter and was officially listed as questionable to return. He was replaced in the lineup by Michael Jerrell.
Matthews, a former sixth-round pick in 2014, has spent his entire 13-year career with the Falcons and has missed only one game since his rookie season. The injury occurs as he reaches his 200th career start, making him only the fourth player in franchise history to achieve that mark.
