Jake Paul urges UFC to release Jon Jones for Ngannou fight
Jake Paul has publicly called on UFC CEO Dana White to grant Jon Jones a release from the promotion. Paul’s request aims to facilitate a highly anticipated matchup between Jones and Francis Ngannou under Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).
The plea follows the recent release of boxer Shakur Stevenson from Zuffa Boxing, a company also led by White. Paul suggested on social media that Jones should be allowed the same opportunity to seek freedom from his current contract to satisfy fan demand for a Jones vs. Ngannou showdown.
Francis Ngannou, who left the UFC in 2023, responded to the proposal by stating, “Freedom isn’t free; it’s not given, but it’s taken.” While the potential fight remains a topic of discussion, industry analysts suggest it is unlikely that White will release a major star like Jones to compete for a rival promotion.
