Jake Reiner speaks on parents' murders and brother's indictment

Jake Reiner, the eldest son of legendary film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, has given his first televised interview eight months after his parents were found fatally stabbed in their Brentwood, Los Angeles, home on December 14, 2025.

Jake described the period as a 'living nightmare,' expressing profound grief and anger over the tragedy. He noted that the loss of his parents, combined with the arrest of his brother, has left him and his sister, Romy, to navigate their lives alone.

His brother, 32-year-old Nick Reiner, has been indicted by a grand jury on two counts of first-degree murder. The indictment includes allegations that Nick was 'lying in wait' during the killings. Nick has pleaded not guilty and is currently being held without bail. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for September 15, 2026.

Jake, a former news reporter, also discussed his parents' unconditional love for their children and their efforts to support Nick despite his public struggles with mental health and addiction. He is currently working with the Children’s Institute, a nonprofit long supported by his parents.
