Jake Weatherald signs with Warwickshire for 2027 season

Warwickshire County Cricket Club has announced the signing of Australian opening batter Jake Weatherald for the 2027 season. The 31-year-old left-hander will join the squad for the Rothesay County Championship campaign.

Weatherald, known for his aggressive top-order batting, arrives at Edgbaston following a period of mixed results in international cricket. He previously demonstrated strong form in England, recording 483 runs at an average of 60.37 for Leicestershire during the 2026 season.

Warwickshire Performance Director James Thomas stated that the club has admired Weatherald for a long time, noting he is a “proven performer who has scored heavily at the highest level.” Weatherald expressed his excitement about joining the prestigious club ahead of the upcoming Ashes series.
