Jakob Ingebrigtsen slams rivals as cowards after Brussels 1500m defeat

Norwegian middle-distance runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen criticized his competitors as “a bunch of cowards” following the Diamond League 1,500-meter final in Brussels. After finishing fourth with a season-best time of 3:30.52, the two-time Olympic champion expressed intense frustration over the race's tactical execution.

Ingebrigtsen, who took an early lead to set the pace, felt abandoned by the field after the pacemakers dropped out. He accused his rivals of lacking the courage to maintain a competitive tempo, instead waiting until the final 50 meters to sprint past him. Australian Cameron Myers won the race, followed by Kenyan runner Koech and American athletes.

Ingebrigtsen, who is returning to peak form following Achilles tendon surgery, noted that while he is not currently strong enough to dominate, he remains determined to return to the top of the sport in the coming months.
