Jakob Ingebrigtsen finishes fourth in 1,500m comeback in Poland

Norwegian middle-distance runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen finished fourth in the 1,500-meter race at the meeting in Chorzow, Poland. This event marked his return to his preferred distance following a long period of recovery from Achilles tendon surgery.

Ingebrigtsen, the 2021 Olympic champion, took the lead with 400 meters remaining but was overtaken in the final sprint. The race was won by American Ethan Strand, followed by Kenya’s Phanuel Kipkoskei Koech in second and American Cole Hocker in third. Ingebrigtsen recorded a time of 3:31.19.

Despite the result, Ingebrigtsen expressed satisfaction with being back in competition and healthy. He noted that he intends to use this race as a stepping stone toward his next appearance at the Diamond League in Zurich, predicting he will become “unreasonably much better” in the coming days.
